Healthy Families receives 10 million in state funding
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Tonight, Child and Family Resources and Children’s Action Alliance celebrated more state funding for their mission.
The additional money will allow for future expansion to rural areas.
Healthy Families Arizona is getting 10 million more dollars in funding for their various essential services.
The organization helps provide stability for families, pregnant women, and parents of newborns experiencing one or more significant life stressors.
This money allows them to access needed care at no cost to them.
The Torres family is just one of the many families being helped by the healthy families program in Yuma.
Mrs. Torres says the healthy families program has helped tremendously.
“Especially since I am a new mom, they just help you go through emotionally and give a lot of support to both of us our family and a lot of resources. A lot of resources that I didn’t know Yuma had,” said Torres.
She has been a part of the program for seven months now and says with the help of healthy families raising her baby is much easier.
“For every month your baby starts to coo or starts to talk to you, they give you information on safety toys and safety gadgets for your home and all that stuff,” said Torres.
Now, more families can take advantage of the healthy families program.
As the ten million dollars of additional state funding will help even more families get the help they need.
“Through the governor's extra funding that he provided for healthy families we were able to expand our services with a few more home visitors in this region to serve Somerton and San Luis so we are grateful for that funding,” said Jo Harper and Wendy Puga from Healthy Families and Family Community Services.
In order to be eligible for assistance families must be referred by a medical provider.
