Local gardening clubs show their locally grown plants at the Home and Garden show

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) The Home and Garden show drew a big crowd this past weekend. It was a great place to learn about new home products, but what about our locally grown plants.

All four local gardening clubs work throughout the year to prep and grow Yuma’s plants.

“I’m glad for this opportunity to let other people know that there are things here in Yuma that might surprise them and it’s all in gardening,” said Bill Watts a Moody Garden volunteer.

The Home and Garden show happens every year, allowing gardeners to share why their plants are so unique.

“So they aren’t going to be like the ones that are shipped in the big box stores, they come in and don’t grow for you and you get frustrated and you give up. And that doesn’t happen here because they are locally grown plants by the garden club people,” said Lydia Reibel, Yuma Garden Club member.

Club members enjoy coming together and finding ways to help the community.

“Everyone likes to grow something and that’s part of us and so as a gardening club we are here to help,” said Watts.

Local gardeners are always available throughout the year to provide tips or answer any questions.

The local gardening clubs are always looking for volunteers or new members to help in their gardens.
