Cardinals faithful endure final regular season game

Cardinals fans in Yuma feel uncertain about team after a disappointing season

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Cardinal faithful have gathered at Burgers and Beer and other sports bars around Yuma. This was to watch their team take the field one last time this season

A somber season for the Arizona Cardinals finally came to a bitter end during the final weekend of the 2022 NFL regular season.

"We started off good, and then injuries really got to us," said Rosa Hernandez, hostess for Burgers and Beer.

The Cardinals were 4-12, heading into their season finale against the NFC West Division Champion, the 49ers, in San Francisco.

Cardinals fans had mixed emotions about the current state of the team as well as next season's outlook.

"It sounds like Kyler Murray isn't going to be around for the beginning of the season though so it's tough. It sounds like we're in a terrible position right now honestly." said avid Cardinals fan Orlando Barrere.

Many gathered to watch the final regular season game at popular Yuma bars such as Burgers and Beer and Brewers Sports Bar.

"We still have a lot of consistent fans that come in that love the Cardinals. A lot of big supporters," said Sarah McNamee, server for Brewers Sports Bar.

However, Cardinals fans were still happy to see the final game from star players to end the year.

"Another reason why I think we're going to give it our all is because [of rumors] that JJ Watt will retire after this year so I think will give it our all for him as well," Barrere concluded.

Latest news reports indicate that Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury will return as head coach of the team in 2023.

All in all, Loyal Cardinals fans in Yuma will be back at local sports bars next year to catch the redbirds in action.
