YFD to host Fire Prevention Week ceremony

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) will host a ceremony to honor Fire Prevention Week.

Accordingly, this is the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, starting October 9 through October 15.

Furthermore, Mayor Douglas Nicholls will read a proclamation regarding Fire Prevention Week in the City of Yuma.

Not only that, Nicholls will also recognize the Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Officer, Dispatcher, and Support Person of the Year

Additionally, the 2022 theme for Fire Prevention Week is "Fire won't wait, Plan your escape." This will remind people to have and practice a home fire escape plan.

Simultaneously, the YFD will highlight a different aspect of fire prevention to further mark this week.

The ceremony starts at 6:00pm at the City of Yuma Fire Department Station #1, located at 353 South 3rd Ave.
