Arizona Western College adds 24/7 hotline to support students’ mental health
Telehealth Access brought to the college by TimelyMD
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Western College (AWC) announced Wednesday that it has added a hotline offering students free and immediate access to mental health support.
TimelyMD provides AWC students a 24/7 extension of campus health and counseling center resources through it's mobile application TimelyCare. The app offers a wide-ranging menu of virtual care options from licensed physicians and counselors in all 50 states.
Services Provided Through TimelyCare
- On-demand mental health support (TalkNow)
- Appointment-based mental health counseling
- Psychiatric support
Public Relations & Marketing Storyteller with AWC Sarah Womer boasted that typical consultations typically take 5-10 minutes to begin, which is less time than it would take to walk across campus.
"Similar to food delivery apps or contactless payment, students might not have tried telehealth before the pandemic, and now they can't imagine life without its ease of use, convenience and immediacy,” said Luke Hejl, TimelyMD CEO and co-founder. “Studies have shown that one of the best ways to keep students engaged, enrolled and on track to graduation is to keep them physically and mentally healthy. Through TimelyCare, we are proud to deliver best-in-class virtual care to help Arizona Western College students thrive."

AWC officials said over 100 students at the Yuma Campus Starbucks and San Luis Learning Center registered on the first day. Registrants were also entered to win an Amazon gift card, with the contest running until Friday, September 10.
"This program will enhance campus resources by making care more readily available to students whenever it’s convenient for them. It will also help reduce the stigma of mental health counseling and grant peace of mind to students and their families," finished AWC Director of Student Resource Services Laura Sandigo.
