Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awards fire department nearly $25,000

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Wellton Fire Department will soon have some brand new lifesaving gear thanks to a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Foundation recently awarded the fire department a grant for nearly $25,000. The department will use the funding to purchase six full sets of firefighting gear including coats, pants, helmets, boots hoods, and gloves. The gear plays an essential role in protecting firefighters while they battle flames.

“We are committed to helping organizations such as the Town of Wellton Fire Department continue their lifesaving work within local communities. We are honored to be able to award this grant and do our part to ensure that Town of Wellton is safer for everyone, including first responders,” said Robin Peters, executive director, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The grant was one of 67 awarded by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to public safety organizations across the country during the most recent grant application period. The grants total more than $1.2 million.
