Sunrise anchors visit DVA for Read Across America

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)- All across the week, Read Across America will help motivate kids to read, bring the joys of reading to students of all ages, and make children feel valued and welcome.

Sunrise anchors Gabriel Salazar and Dominique Newland visited Desert View Academy's Eagles in K4 enjoyed their special reading of “The Wonky Donkey”.

The titles and resources featured by National Education Association’s Read Across America include books that students can see themselves reflected in, as well as books that allow readers to see a world or a character that might be different than them.

Crane School District and YRMC Family Medicine Residents have partnered for Read Across America event on March 2nd.

Family Medicine physicians/residents will surprise students across Crane School District, read a book to students and answers questions students have.

Below is a schedule for the event.

Gowan Science Academy – 1590 S. Avenue C, Yuma, AZ

  • 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

H.L. Suverkrup – 1590 S. Avenue C, Yuma, AZ

  • 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

Ronald Reagan Elementary – 3200 W. 16th Street

  • 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. 
  • Principal, Mr. Thomas Fletcher

Valley Horizon Elementary – 4501 W. 20th Street

  • 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
