Trial date set for Somerton man accused of murder in fatal stabbing

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A trial date has been set for the former San Luis State Prison Corrections Officer who police said allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death.

Isaac Abraham Rivera is expected to stand trial beginning on October 2. His trial is expected to go until December.

Rivera was taken into custody in October 2019 after Somerton police responded to reports of a woman stabbed in a Somerton neighborhood.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rivera is expected back in court in September. He is facing one count of first-degree murder.
