School officials say school counselors are needed. The student-counselor ratio has surpassed its limit. Gadsden Elementary District grant writer, Antonio Garcia, says he is hoping students will thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Another goal is for parents to stay connected with counselors. This will be provided through social media and parent-counselor meetings.
