Suspect arrested after barricading himself inside an El Centro home

UPDATE: According to a social media post by the El Centro Police Department (ECPD), officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle near Third Street and Commercial Avenue.

ECPD says officers were able to quickly find the vehicle heading east on Villa Road, but after attempting a traffic stop, the driver failed to pull over and led officers on a short chase.

The driver, according to ECPD, then fled on foot into a home where he barricaded himself, prompting officers to obtain a search warrant to enter the home where the suspect was found and arrested.

The suspect is currently in custody and the Imperial County Jail, and is facing multiple felony charges.

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) - There was heavy law enforcement presence Monday afternoon on Cruickshank Road, between Highway 111 and Dogwood Road.

News 11 had a reporter at the scene, but we were told to leave the area for our safety.
