Preliminary hearing for suspects tied to Jacob Sims murder underway

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA) - The preliminary hearing for the suspects tied to the murder of a young man from Yuma started Wednesday.
Six defendants were in an El Centro courtroom, facing charges which includes torture, murder, robbery, aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a crime.
These are all tied to the murder of 23-year-old Jacob Sims. His remains were found in Winterhaven in November of 2024.
Two Imperial County Sheriff's Office investigators were called to the stand. One shared they responded to a call of a potential burned body.
When they arrived, they say there was a fire pit that was still smoldering. Then, he says he saw wood and then saw a corpse.
The hearing is expected to run through Friday.
