El Centro celebrates Veterans Day

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The City of El Centro celebrated Veterans Day where many Veterans attended the ceremony.

The City of El Centro says every year, they honor the Veterans who fought for our country, with some saying this celebration is another way to remember these heroes.

The ceremony was held at Bucklin Park, where a memorial wall with the names of fallen Veterans is located.

Many Veterans paid respects to the fallen heroes by shouting the names of those who are no longer with us.

El Centro Mayor Sylvia Marroquin says her father, uncle and her brother are Veterans. Therefore, she feels a deep connection every year the ceremony is held.

“My dad and my uncle have passed away and my brother is still living...I would like to thank them for all of their dedication and our service to our country and that I love them all," said Marroquin.
