Suspect accused of killing girlfriend requested a bail

KYMA

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The man accused of murdering his girlfriend in El Centro last month is asking for a lower bail amount.

Police say 19-year-old Anthony Hernandez shot his girlfriend, 18-year-old Emily Padilla with an AR-15 rifle at the Imperial Garden Family Apartments on Euclid Avenue on June 26.

“He is just asking the court to consider the bail amount he is right now hold with a $500,000 bail so he is asking the court to reconsider that amount so we will have that hearing. He is going to argue for his position and the people are going to argue for our position," said Jessica Moreno, Imperial County Deputy District Attorney.

Hernandez is facing a total of four felony counts, including murder and possession of an assault weapon.

He's being held at the Imperial County Jail and is scheduled to be back in court on Wednesday.
