Woman found dead inside apartment in El Centro
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro police said a man is behind bars accused of murdering his girlfriend.
The El Centro Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Euclid Avenue at Imperial Garden Family Apartments at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Inside the apartment, police found an 18-year-old Hispanic woman who was shot once in the chest.
She died by the time officers arrived.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 19-year-old man with an AR-15 rifle who was taken into custody.
The 19-year-old man is currently charged with murder, possession of an assault weapon, and attempt to conceal evidence.
He is in custody at the Imperial County Sheriff's Office and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday. His bail is currently set at $1,000,000.
The case is still under investigation.
