Grocery Outlet hosts ‘Independence from Hunger’ to help local communities

The 13th Annual Independence from Hunger Campaign will benefit local food agencies partners

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is collecting cash donations and pre-made bags of nonperishable foods in-store that will be distributed to local non-profit charities for communities in need of food.

These donations will be given to El Centro Catholic Food Pantry and Foreign Wars of the United States in Imperial County.

From June 28 – July 31, donations will be accepted to help out families in need of food.

In Grocery Outlet's press release, it mentioned that families turn to food banks as 34 million people in the U.S. are currently food insecure.

One in six Latinos faces food insecurity, said the press release.

Here are ways customers can make a difference by visiting a local Grocery Outlet:

  • Give $5, get $5. Donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online and you will receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.
  • Purchase a pre-made bag that is complete with an assortment of groceries selected by the local food agency and then place it in a collection bin at the front of the store.
  • Make an in-store donation at the register. Donations will benefit that store’s local food agency partner. Donate $1, $5 or round up your change.
  • Donate online by visiting GroceryOutlet.com/Donate.
