Imperial County battling dangers of fentanyl

Brawley City Council provides a presentation to raise awareness of fentanyl

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Brawley City Council invited Imperial County Behavioral Health Services and the Sheriff's Office to provide a presentation for residents on the dangers of fentanyl, including an update on how to help people with addiction.

In the presentation, the cities that are affected and have seen an increase in fentanyl overdoses are Brawley, Calipatria, Imperial, and El Centro.

The presentation discussed the history of the first fentanyl seizure in Imperial County, which was in 2020.

The Imperial County Behavioral Health Services gave a presentation on a new program they are doing to help people who are addicted to opioids, especially fentanyl.

Imperial County Behavioral Health Services is planning to work with Pioneers Hospital for the new program.
