Imperial Valley growers commit to growing 12,000 acres of sugarcane for Sugar Valley Energy

Sugar Valley Energy will help bring employment opportunities to Imperial County

BRAWLEY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Sugar Valley Energy is a low-carbon sugarcane-to-ethanol and power facility that will help local Imperial Valley growers with profitable and sustainable long-term crops.

The facility is expected to be up and running by 2026.

It is also expected to employ over 200 on-site employees to help run the energy campus and an estimated 2,000 agricultural jobs.

Sugar Valley Energy CEO Dave Rubenstein said that test crops are already thriving in the region and have been growing for over a decade.

Rubenstein has also partnered with the Imperial Irrigation District to secure their future water supply.
