Eighth annual toy giveaway for children

KYMA

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers team up to spread holiday love to four non-profit organizations

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The smiles were all over this room after these little ones received Christmas presents early.

The eighth annual toy giveaway wrapped over three hundred toys this morning.

Those toys making their way to Calipatria, Brawley, Heber, and El Centro.

“There is everything from the traditional toys... our children enjoy... to skateboarding and everything in between... there is something for everyone and we are excited that they will be able to receive that today," said Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.

Best S.T.E.P Forward which stands for Best Sports Theater Expression and Perseverance Forward was the first organization to receive these toys.

I spoke to the CEO who says this does not happen often.

“Seeing them come over and just specifically pick us out... which is not something that happens to us... the community that we serve is pretty much the forgotten group of kids that are often left out... not picked to play with and don’t have many friends... so when we have that special attention for our kids it’s very heartfelt," said Jacqueline Riddell.
