Public Hearing Mental Health Board Meeting

MGN/IMPERIAL COUNTY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Community feedback requested on annual update

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Annual Update is currently available for public review and comment until Tuesday, June 1.

That same Tuesday, Imperial County Behavioral Health Services (ICBHS) plans to hold a virtual Mental Health Board Meeting from 12-1 p.m. over Zoom where comments will be heard. In the meantime, ICBHS welcomes feedback via Survey Monkey.

MHSA is used to expand and transform California’s mental health service systems by providing funds to reduce the long-term adverse impact of untreated severe mental illness and serious emotional disturbance.

The goals of MHSA programs are to provide services that promote wellbeing, recovery, and self-help; prevent the long-term negative impact of severe mental illness; and reduce stigma.

Services are culturally competent, easier to access and more effective in preventing and treating severe mental illness. These are obtained by using the “whatever it takes” approach.
