Imperial County sees spike of 36 coronavirus cases

New death brings total to 11

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial County Public Health Department (ICPHD) confirms 36 new cases of coronavirus. This brings the countywide total to 455.

Health officials also announced the death of one more patient. So far the illness has killed 11 Imperial Valley residents.

The county is not releasing personal details on the latest victim of the virus, they also have not released new information on the newest patients.

These new cases reflect the Valley's increased testing efforts. Over 3,000 have now been tested.

On positive note, 218 people have recovered from the illness.
