“Pioneer Day” helps residents appreciate their roots

IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)- Imperial Valley residents can enjoy a blast from the past at Saturday's "Pioneer Day."

The 10th annual event is hosted by the Pioneers Museum and highlights how far the valley has come from its humble beginnings.

The free event allows valley residents to enjoy hayrides, and experience daily household items from over a century ago.

Pioneer Day Chairman, Gregory Smith said" We have a rich and wonderful history here in Imperial County. But on this day, in particular, we remember our ancestors. We remember all the great people that have made this such a great place to live in."

Funds raised from "Pioneer Day" helps keep the museum operational. The event starts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday.
