El Centro Border Patrol arrests previously deported gang member

Gang member had previously been ordered removed from the U.S. on 11 occasions.

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Border Patrol agents at the El Centro Sector (ECBP) arrested a Mexican gang member Tuesday morning.

Agents on patrol witnessed 35-year-old Jesus Faustino Garcia-Chavez illegally enter the United States a few miles east of Calexico.

Record checks revealed Garcia-Chavez, a Mexican national, is a documented Sureño gang member.

ECPB says he had previously been ordered to be removed from the United States on 11 occasions. The most recent being on November 29, 2011.

Garcia-Chavez is currently held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
