OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Two people are arrested on Valentine's Day after attempting to smuggle methamphetamine, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Border Patrol agents say they attempted to pull over a vehicle when the driver failed to stop.

After a brief pursuit, the driver finally came to a stop.

Agents say the vehicle along with the individuals were transported to the Highway 86 checkpoint for further investigation. While at the checkpoint, a canine detected a scent to the rear of the vehicle.

CBP says they found 62 packages of meth hidden inside the spare tired of the vehicle as well as 11 additional packages inside a tote bag.

The driver, a 35-year old, and the passenger 35-year-old woman, the drugs, and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
