YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said a man has been arrested in connection to a shooting earlier this month.

YPD said the shooting happened before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, October 11, in the area of S. Madison Avenue and E. Fifth Street.

Upon arrival, YPD said officers found a 39-year-old man who was "struck by gunfire," and was taken to Onvida Health for non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, YPD said, "Detectives identified a vehicle related to the case," leading them to contact several people related to the vehicle in a parking lot located in the area of E. 32nd Street at around 8:10 p.m. Saturday.

Nearly an hour later, YPD said an 18-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center, where is facing attempted murder and other charges. His bond is set $100,000.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information regarding the case, call YPD at 928-373-4700, or 78-CRIME at 928-782-7463 to remain anonymous.
