Police chase in Minnesota ends in man’s arrest

MANKATO, Minn. (CBS, KYMA) - Agents with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force and deputies with the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office assisted the Minnesota Department of Corrections Tuesday in locating and arresting 43-year-old Brandon Michael Hall.

Hall was wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant tied to a drug conviction in Blue Earth County.

Authorities located Hall driving a gray 2020 Ford Edge and attempted to box him to prevent a pursuit. Investigators say Hall fled, striking an agent's squad and causing minor damage.

A deputy deployed stop sticks near Minneopa Park, but Hall avoided them as the chase continued east on Highway 68, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour before turning north on Highway 169.

The pursuit ended after Hall collided with a 2018 Ford Fusion on Highway 14. Authorities say that crash then caused the Fusion to careen into a parked, unoccupied Mankato squad car as an officer outside the vehicle attempted to deploy stop sticks.

Hall refused to comply and stayed inside his vehicle. Authorities say the vehicle began to smoke, and Hall exited with a large knife, then ran along the shoulder.

Officers deployed less-lethal options, including a Taser, and Hall was taken into custody.

The incident remains under investigation, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
