Colectivo Buscando SLRC

SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA) – Authorities and search groups have located a new clandestine grave containing human remains in the municipality of San Luis, Río Colorado, reigniting concerns about the problem of disappearances in the border region.

The discovery was made by Buscando en San Luis Río Colorado on a property located near San Emeterio Street, close to the wastewater treatment plant.

The remains of a man were found at the site, wearing size M athletic clothing, black pants, size L plaid boxer shorts in blue, white, green, and red, and Under Armor brand athletic pants.

During the excavation, which lasted several hours due to the compacted soil, a second body was also found, which remains unidentified.

Additionally, a uniform belonging to an active-duty municipal police officer was found at the site, a fact that is now under investigation by the relevant authorities.

The perimeter was secured by police and military personnel, while forensic experts from the Attorney General's Office collected evidence for its subsequent transfer to the on-duty funeral home, where the corresponding legal procedures will be carried out.

According to protocol, the Public Prosecutor will request DNA testing to identify the victims and determine if any of them correspond to individuals reported missing.

Last Monday, remains that could belong to another man reported missing in February 2024 were found in a nearby location in the same city.

Agents from the CIA are in charge of the investigation to clarify the facts, fully identify the victims, and locate those responsible.

This new discovery adds to a series of similar finds in the area, where citizen groups continue to actively participate in the search for missing persons, given the persistent forensic crisis facing the region.
