Three officers injured, suspect dead in Colorado shooting

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Three Pueblo police officers were shot on Tuesday night, according to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD).

PPD said around 7:12 p.m. Mountain Time, officers were called to Bessemer Park in the area of Mesa Avenue and Cedar Street after reports of one officer shot.

Police said once additional officers and Pueblo County deputies responded, the suspect fled the scene on foot while shooting at the responding law enforcement. Police said two more officers were then hit with gunfire.

Police said the suspect was also shot and officers rendered aid, but the suspect died at the scene.

All officers were taken to a local hospital, and they said all officers were in stable condition.

The 10th Judicial District CIRT, led by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, is investigating the incident.

The Pueblo County Coroner will identify the suspect.
