Mexicali joins the search for Cal Fire capt. murder suspect
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Mexicali law enforcement agencies are now joining in the search for a woman suspected of stabbing her wife, who was a Cal Fire captain, at their home in San Diego.
53-year-old Yolanda Marodi is suspected of killing her wife 49-year-old Rebecca Marodi after she was found stabbed to death by the victim's mother last week.
Mexicali authorities say the San Diego Sheriff's Office (SDSO) requested their help in locating the suspect.
They believe Yolanda Marodi may be hiding in Baja California.
"They mentioned that she may be in Mexicali and San Felipe...That is where they are pointing to. In some social media pages, we have seen press releases where they say that she may have connections or close people to her in Mexicali or San Felipe...we really don't know, but we are investigating," said Carlos Zuniga, Baja California Secretary of Public Security.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Yolanda Marodi pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of her former husband and was in prison from 2004 to 2013 for that crime.
