Sentencing postponed for Somerton barber murder suspect

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The sentencing for the man accused of murdering a Somerton barber has once again been pushed back.

34-year-old Joshua Cota was scheduled for sentencing Friday but had it postponed for next Friday.

Cota is accused of murdering 28-year-old Leo Melendez.

The family is frustrated with the plea deal being offered to Cota and, Melendez's mother, Edith Martinez, is not happy.

"I feel like this is a joke I feel like the lawyer is telling half truths and the judges believe them and when they see our version once again they are like wow," said Martinez.

Cota has had two failed plea agreements that were thrown out by two different judges.
