Local Yumans speaking out after another shooting in their neighborhood

One too many shootings happening in local neighborhoods have residents worried about their safety - 13 On Your Side's Vanessa Gongora reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A shooting occurred Tuesday night just steps away from a fatal shooting that happened on 5th Street last week.

The incident was between May and Vaughn Avenue.

It's the second shooting in this area in two weeks.

One neighbor, Francisca Diaz says this area is starting to feel unsafe.

“We don’t understand why this is happening. Never happened before. This is the first time we’re seeing or hearing things like this," explains Diaz. "Now that it's happening, it feels a little scary, a little insecure to come out on the streets. This is something my neighbors witnessed.”

The 54-year-old victim was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO), he's in stable condition.

Another local resident, Marcus Delgadillo says he's getting used to these incidents.

"I'll be outside chillin with my dog or something and I'll hear a lot of shootings and cops" describes Delgadillo.

Though he says it doesn't affect him.

"I feel safe overall. The area I'm at, my neighbors, everything's good but I don't know what's going on anywhere else. It's a bit unsafe I would say," continues Delgadillo.

One neighbor who didn't want to speak on camera says she knows the victims of the shootings and the area is starting to become a dangerous place.

This investigation is ongoing. If you have any information please contact YCSO at 928-783-4427 or 78-crime to remain anonymous.
