CBP officers arrest two men, seize over $79K worth of drugs

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested two individuals in separate alleged attempts to smuggle marijuana and heroin through Arizona Ports of Entry over the weekend.
On Friday, officers at the San Luis Port of Entry pedestrian lanes referred a 19-year-old man for additional questioning.
Officers said a canine alerted to a scent it's trained to detect, and a search of the subject led to the discovery of more than two pounds of heroin taped to his thighs. The heroin is estimated to be worth more than $26,000.
CBP said the Douglas Port of Entry referred a 56-year-old Mexican national on Saturday for additional inspection of his Ford Truck after a canine alerted to a scent in his vehicle.

After officers searched his vehicle, they discovered 175 pounds of marijuana hidden inside of boxes of tile and packages of concrete. Officers said the marijuana has an estimated value of more than $52,000.
