Yuma County coronavirus cases climb to 9,800
Seven more deaths reported
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Nearly 10,000 Yuma County residents have tested positive for coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.
The Yuma County Public Health Department (YCPHD) only confirmed 85 new cases Thursday. That's well below the 200 and 300 case spikes the county saw earlier in the month. In fact, it's the third day this week new cases have dipped below 100, although there was a 294 case spike on Tuesday.
In spite of the low new-case count, 9,800 county residents have tested positive for the virus since March. The illness has killed 210 people so far, including the seven new deaths reported Thursday.
Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) reported 3 more hospitalizations. It also moved three more patients into COVID intensive care. However, the hospital still has plenty of ventilators.
