San Luis police officer tests positive for coronavirus

Mayor Sanchez confirms result in Facebook post

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - San Luis Mayor Gerardo Sanchez took to social media late Tuesday afternoon to confirm one of the city's police officers has tested positive for coronavirus.

Mayor Sanchez said the officer is recuperating at home. He says the police department has already taken all necessary precautions, and is working to trace the officer's contact history.

Sanchez also says the department and it's officers will continue to respond to calls, and to protect and serve their community while following recommended guidelines.

Mayor Sanchez also confirmed the city of San Luis currently has 54 residents who've tested positive for the virus.

Yuma County's cases climbed to 283 on Wednesday. So far, coronavirus is blamed for the deaths of 4 county residents.
