Gamers to attend Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (NBC, KYMA) - Thousands of gamers are heading to San Francisco this weekend for the Pokémon World Championships.

It's the marquee tournament for people who play competitive Pokémon games, and it's serious business, with a $2 million prize.

Events are planned Friday through Sunday for fans of the video games, trading cards, Pokémon Go and Pokémon Unite.

People of all ages are expected to participate in the tournament.

The Pokémon X-P-A Fan Convention is happening at the same time, with workshops, interactive experiences and panels.
