Firefighters in California give oxygen to pigeon

OAKLAND, Calif. (CBS, KYMA) - Firefighters don't only stop flames, they also take time to help our feathered friends.

After stopping a vehicle fire Tuesday, a crew from Oakland Firefighters Local 55 noticed a pigeon having some difficulty breathing due to suspected smoke inhalation.

"The crew reported the pigeon came up to them seeking help," said the Oakland Firefighters Local 55 in a Facebook post.

"E29's crew administered the pigeon some oxygen and the bird shortly flew away after clearing out its lungs," they added.
