Brush fire in Sorrento Valley prompts evacuations

SAN DIEGO (NBC, KYMA) - A fast-moving brush fire in San Diego's Sorrento Valley is prompting evacuations.

Firefighting ground crews are battling the Sorrento Fire in the canyon as Cal Fire planes drop flame retardant on the fire from above.

Authorities have issued an evacuation order in the area, urging people to leave immediately.

The fire started Monday morning and is moving quickly through the canyon.

While there are no reports of injuries at this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
