Marilyn Monroe look-alikes break the world record

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - Hundreds of Marilyn Monroe look-alikes broke the world record for the most people dressed like the Hollywood icon.

The record was broken in Palm Springs, California at the Forever Marilyn statue Saturday to honor her 100th birthday Monday.

The previous record was 254 people which was set in Australia in 2020, and attendees said there were over 1,000 people there dressed in a white halter dress and blonde wigs.

Costume kits were provided to people wanting to help break the record.

The non-profit Palm Springs Pride organized the event which included live entertainment and food.

Proceeds going to the organization.
