Tree-climbing bear in Southern California draws crowds

ALTADENA, Calif. (CNN, KYMA) - A black bear turned a quiet Southern California neighborhood into a weekend spectacle.

The bear was spotted roaming through Altadena Sunday, climbing trees and running through yards.

Dozens of people stopped to snap photos while some residents worried about their children and pets.

At one point, a man left out raw chicken and water for the bear, but wildlife officials say that's an example of what not to do.

They say feeding bears can make them too comfortable around people, and put both the bear and the community at risk.

Officials later cleared the area and urged people to keep their distance, and it's unclear if the bear is still on the loose.
