Doctor charged in Matthew Perry’s death pleads guilty
LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - The doctor who supplied Matthew Perry with large amounts of ketamine about a month before Perry's death has pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of the drug in U.S. district court Wednesday.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia is one of five people who have been charged in connection to Perry's death in 2023.
He previously pleaded not guilty, but prosecutors agreed to drop three other counts of distribution and two counts of falsifying records if he pleaded guilty instead.
His sentencing is scheduled for December 3 and he will remain out on bond.
Dr. Plasencia will also voluntarily surrender his medical license within the next thirty to forty-five days, according to his lawyers.
Attorneys also made it clear in an email that "the ketamine that caused Mr. Perry's death was not provided by Dr. Plasencia."
Jasveen Sangha, a drug dealer known as the "Ketamine Queen", sold Perry the fatal dose.
She is the only defendant who has not reached an agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office, and she has pleaded not guilty.
Her trial is scheduled to begin next month.
