Former LAFD chief loses appeal to get her job back

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Former Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Chief Kristin Crowley lost an appeal Tuesday to get her job back.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass dismissed Crowley last month for what the mayor deemed failures of leadership during January's deadly wildfires.

In her statement to the City Council, Crowley restated her belief that the department lacks the resources it needs to protect the city.

Crowley needed support from ten council members to be reinstated, but in the end, the council voted 13 to two against her.

"I appreciate the love and support from my fellow firefighters, the LAFD, the community. We're going to continue to advocate to get the LAFD where we need to go," Crowley expressed.

Crowley, a 25-year veteran of the LAFD, will stay with the department as an assistant chief.
