California toddler dies due to accidental shooting

FALLBROOK, Calif. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - A toddler has died after being shot in her home in California on Monday.

The incident was reported around 7:30pm. Deputies arrived and found the one-year-old with a "head injury."

The child was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.

Police say a three-year-old shot and killed a one-year-old sibling with a handgun that was left unsecured in the Fallbrook home.

It is not clear where the chldren's parents were at the time of the shooting.

An investigation is pending.
