Anita Pointer, Pointer Sisters singer, dies at 74

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (NBC) - Anita Pointer of the Grammy-winning Pointer Sisters has died at the age of 74.

Pointer died of cancer on Saturday, December 31, her publicist announced.

Born in 1948, Anita was the second oldest of the four sisters who formed the singing group 'Pointer Sisters' in 1969.

They rose to fame with hits in the 1970's and 80's, including "I'm So Excited."

Pointer's death also comes after her sister Bonnie died in 2020 at the age of 69.

In addition, June, the youngest sister, died in 2006.
