Northern California experiencing mixed winter weather

TAHOE NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (NBC) - A winter storm is slamming northern California bringing heavy snow and drenching rain.

The high winds caused power outages across northern California over the weekend.

In South Lake Tahoe, motorists, because of the storm, experienced delays in their travel plans to the Sierra on Sunday.

According to authorities, many key roads had closed because of heavy snow, including a stretch of California Highway 89 between Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe.

Weather experts say the rain and snow will be clearing out of northern California sometime Monday.
