California bar owner arrested for allegedly selling fake Covid-19 vaccine cards

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - A California man has been arrested on charges of selling fake Covid-19 vaccination cards after undercover agents received complaints of fraudulent cards being sold.

The undercover agents with the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control got a complaint about fraudulent cards being sold at a bar in Clements. The agents said they were able to purchase the fake ID cards on multiple occasions in April.

They say that the owner of the bar was the one selling the cards. During the arrest, the owner was also found to be in possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm.

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will file disciplinary action against the business which could mean its liquor license could get suspended or revoked.

Another employee potentially involved could also be charged.
