Argentina defeats England in FIFA World Cup semi-finals

ATLANTA (NBC, KYMA) - As the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to a close, Argentina defeated England, and will go face-to-face with Spain Sunday.

An incredible atmosphere at the FIFA Fan Festival in Atlanta, where just when it looked like England was going to make a final for the first time since 1966, but Argentina came through, defeating England 2-1.

It was a goal from Enzo Fernandez, and then a couple minutes later, the winner from Lautaro Martinez, and the FIFA Fan Festival absolutely erupted when that second goal from Argentina came in, but it was heartbreaking for the English fans who were there.

This will be the second World Cup Final in a row for Argentina after they won back in 2022, and they will face-off against Spain.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final takes place Sunday, July 19, 2026 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber and Shakira will headline the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, with Coldplay, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and PS22 Chorus serving as special guests.
