Jury reaches split verdict in Sean “Diddy” Combs trial
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The federal jury in the Sean "Diddy" Combs case in New York rendered a split verdict Wednesday.
Jurors found the hip-hop mogul not guilty on one count of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking of victims Cassie Ventura and "Jane."
However, Combs, 55, was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution pertaining to both victims. Each of the two counts carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
Following the verdict, Combs' attorney asked the court to release him from custody prior to sentencing.
Prosecutors immediately opposed the defense motion.
Wednesday's verdict concluded a trial where jurors heard testimony from more than 30 witnesses over seven weeks.
