USBP: 24-year-old arrested for carrying $185K worth of meth

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - A 24-year-old woman is arrested after Border Patrol agents say they found 42 packages of methamphetamine packages in her vehicle.

The El Centro Sector says the incident happened Saturday morning at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint. Border Patrol agents sent a woman driving a 2009 gray Dodge Journey to secondary inspection after a canine alerted her vehicle.

During inspection, agents found the drug packages inside the rocker panels of the car.

The meth packages weighed 67.6 pounds with an estimated value of $185,900. Agents seized the vehicles, drugs and turned the woman over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
