Dog in Arizona rescued after falling down a mine shaft

MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - An Arizona dog is safe and sound after falling down a mine shaft.

A rescue crew successfully extracted the nine-year-old dog, Hailey, after she fell about 100 feet down the shaft.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Hailey fell while her owner was out exploring a mining claim.

The responding rescue team used a rope system to rappel to the bottom where Hailey was located.

The dog was fastened to a harness and was safely extracted from the mine along with the rescuer.

First responders say Hailey did not appear to be harmed.
