Family of Charles Vallow react to Lori Vallow Daybell’s guilty verdict
PHOENIX (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Lori Vallow Daybell, the so-called "Doomsday Mom," was convicted Tuesday of conspiring to kill her fourth husband.
The Idaho woman is already serving multiple life sentences for the murders of her two children and and her husband's first wife, Tammy Daybell.
Prosecutors said Vallow Daybell and her now-deceased brother, Alex Cox, planned the killing of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, for life insurance and social security benefits.
Vallow Daybell, acting as her own attorney, told jurors her brother shot Vallow in self-defense following a family argument.
Jurors deliberated for a total of three hours over two days before returning Tuesday's guilty verdict.
Following the verdict, two family members of Charles Vallow shared their reaction outside the courthouse.
"Today is a good day, we won," said Gerry Vallow, Charles Vallow's brother.
"We'll be on our way through our life and she'll be rotting in prison where she deserves to be," said Kay Woodcock, Charles Vallow's sister.
Vallow is scheduled to go on trial on a charge of conspiring to murder Brandon Boudreaux, the ex-husband of her niece, Melani Pawlowski.
"I'm just glad this is done, now we just have to get justice for Brandon," Woodcock declared.
