NTSB releases report on fatal midair collision
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has now released a report on the fatal mid-air collision between two small planes in Marana, Arizona.
The incident happened at Marana Regional Airport near Tucson on February 19.
According to the NTSB, a Cessna was flown by a student pilot with a flight instructor on board.
The student was practicing landings and takeoffs, and the other plane was a personal flight preparing to land.
The report says the collision happened when the plane tried to go around the Cessna, and it unfortunately hit it.
The student pilot and flight instructor were not injured and the plane landed safely, but the pilot and passenger on the other plane were killed.
The final report could take more than a year to complete.
